Personally i like for all the trim to be painted/stained the same.

It can be time consuming and it takes a level of technique to get the color just right so that it comes out even all the way around.
If i am spraying the woodwork, i will tape off the windows and cover them with a piece of paper and painter's tape. .good sized home that has lots of paella windows and solid wood doors and trim. In this video i trim out all windows with wood (pine) the whole project took about 2 days and cost under 200 dollars. Most of the wood trim in my early 20th centruy home is stained a dark wood.
